In the event of inclement weather or any other disruption which may lead to a decision to close the school, parents are requested to observe the following protocols:
If normal school transport does not turn up, or is unusually late, then pupils should return home. Parents should not attempt to bring pupils to school if transport has been stopped as we cannot guarantee to get them home again.
Telephone the school on 01267 245300. If the school has been closed, there will be a recorded message to this effect. Unless this specific message is heard, parents should assume that the school is open as normal.
If however, buses/taxis arrive and the weather deteriorates during the day, we will always make a decision to close in sufficient time to alert operators and have all pupils returned home safely. In all cases, if transport turns up, parents should assume that the school is open as normal.
If a decision has to be taken during the day to close the school because the weather has deteriorated, this is usually on the advice of transport operators themselves. In such circumstances, we will encourage children to notify parents via their own mobile phones, and provide access to a telephone from school for those who need it. Any child who is unable to make contact with home or is unable to satisfy us that they have a safe place to go, will be allowed to remain in school, where they will be supervised until they can be collected.
Log on to the Carmarthenshire County Council website as all school closures will be reported here first and this is guaranteed to be accurate. If the closure is not reported here, then parents should assume that the school is open as normal.
UNLESS YOU HEAR FROM ONE OF THESE SOURCES THAT THE SCHOOL IS CLOSED, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS ASSUME THAT IT IS OPEN!
